Spock's Beard is a US Prog Rock band founded in 1992 in Los Angeles by brothers Neal and Alan Morse. Neal prominently was on Vocals and was the primary songwriter of the group before his departure in 2002 while Alan remained in the group playing Electric Guitar. The brothers paired up with Nick D'Virgilio (drums) and Dave Meros (bass) to record and release their debut album, The Light. Another addition to the group was made when Ryo Okumoto (keyboards) joined later on. When Neal departed in 2002, Nick took over vocals until his departure in 2011. The current lineup of the band is Alan Morse, Dave Meros, Ryo Okumoto, drummer Jimmy Keegan (who played live in place of D'Virgilio), and vocalist Ted Leonard.

Spock's Beard can be classified as strictly Symphonic Rock, leaning into the Pop influences, in similar styles as Classic Progressive Rock groups such as Yes and Genesis. The group is also well known for their multi-part vocal harmonies (as found on Gentle Giant songs) as well as their use of Counterpoint on cuts like "Gibberish", "Thoughts (Parts I and II", "A Guy Named Sid Pt. 5: Sid's Boy Choir", "Devil's Got My Throat", and "Afterthoughts".
